COOKING CLASSES

Come and enjoy our unique coastal Tora lifestyle, learn something new, or revive your skills. Whatever your reason, join us and explore a shared passion for fresh, locally sourced food.

Our two-night stay/ one-day cooking  a retreat  with a difference and are a wonderful way to celebrate a special occasion, or to do something fun with a group of friends.

Our classes take place in the Cookhouse. Each class is designed to inspire and to demonstrate how to create simple, tasty and great-looking dishes. Using both classic and modern methods, our classes are an engaging mix of preparing, cooking and eating. Our highly trained chefs are very passionate about our unique and extraordinary Wairarapa produce and we are delighted to offer our classes during the months of October and November 2021 (dates to be confirmed Jan 2021).

How does it work?  Arriving on Friday early evening you’ll be greeted by your hosts Alistair and Jenny Boyne, who will show you around your attractive and comfortable self-contained accommodation. While your wine (BYO) chills, a delicious evening meal
pre-prepared by Jenny awaits the group (you’ll just need to heat it).
As you settle into your accommodation, the evening is all yours to enjoy.

The following morning, after breakfast and lunch at your accommodation, your cooking class will begin at 1pm, where you'll meet your chef, who will then guide you through the recipes. Your class will finish at approximately 4.30pm.

All food prepared in your class is for your enjoyment and your culinary creations form the basis of your evening meal.  Please note, if you choose the cheesemaking course, we'll prepare an evening meal for you to finish off for the Saturday night.

At the end of the day you’ll have plenty of free time to relax, go for a walk, or catch a wave.

On Sunday, the day is your own to enjoy.  Walk, mountain bike (you'll need to bring your own), beachcomb, or simply chill out with a book.

Check out is 1pm.

We grow almost all of the vegetables and herbs used in our classes and what we haven't grown ourselves, we've sourced locally!

Food waste is kept to an absolute minimum and, if appropriate, fed to our chickens.

The Cookhouse takes a holistic view toward the environment. Food waste is kept to an absolute minimum and if appropriate fed to our chickens. We've grown almost all of the vegetables and herbs or these are sourced locally.
